How the Programme Works:

  1. Online mentor capability development course

The manager completes a six-week blended (online and face to face) mentor development course:

  1. Build mentor skills, knowledge, and core attributes
  2. Have a toolkit of mentoring strategies which can be used to enhance own mentoring practice
  • One-one mentoring

The manager engages in monthly mentoring meetings with Lesley over a six-month period to continue building mentor capability through reflection on practice, discussing progress on goal achievement, exploring how to manage challenges, receiving feedback on practice.

  • The mentor’s role and responsibilities
  • Essential communication skills (strengths-based feedback, empathic listening, skilful questioning)
  • Self-leadership and leadership of others,
  • Handling difficult conversations
